The village of Sises is situated within the prefecture of Rethymno, specifically in the Municipality of Mylopotamos. It is positioned approximately 40 kilometers from both Rethymno city and Heraklion, Crete.

The village is most likely named after the Cistus creticus plant, also known as sisaros or agkisaros, which is native to the area and produces the valuable resin Ladanum.

The primary occupations of the villagers in Sises involve animal care, beekeeping, olive oil production, and more recently, cultivating high-quality citrus fruits.

Finally, northwest of the village of Sises, there are 2 beautiful beaches, where you can bathe after a walk in the village.
