Rasoulis was born in Heraklion, Crete.

Manolis Rasoulis was a Greek artist who wore many hats –
he wrote lyrics, sang, composed songs, and even worked as a journalist.
He left a huge mark on Greek music, and one of his most iconic projects was the album “The Revenge of the Gypsy Style,” which he put together with Nikos Xydakis and Nikos Papazoglou — a record that really helped define the sound of Greek folk music.
To honor his legacy, a tribute concert at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus will bring some of his best-loved songs to life, drawn from his work with well-known composers and musicians.
Sadly, Rasoulis passed away on March 5, 2011, likely from a heart attack, though his body wasn’t discovered until March 13 in his apartment in the Toumba neighborhood of Thessaloniki. He was 65 years old.
